On this Teachers’ Day, we gather not only to celebrate but also to honor the lasting influence of an extraordinary teacher and mentor, Girish Mistry. Born on September 5, 1960, and remembered fondly since his passing on May 22, 2023, his guidance continues to shape our lives in countless ways.
Looking back at our journeys, we realize how much we owe to the mentors who guided us. Girish Sir was one such guiding light. As a true teacher and guru, he went beyond sharing lessons. He instilled values, encouraged curiosity, and taught us how to face life’s challenges with courage and patience.
Moreover, his impact reached far beyond academics. Through kindness, empathy, and steady support, he showed us the importance of honesty, discipline, and perseverance. Because of his teachings, we learned that real education is not only about knowledge but also about building strong character.
In addition, Girish Sir inspired us to dream big and to believe in our abilities. He helped us see the beauty of learning and gave us the skills to follow our dreams with determination.
The bond he shared with his students was one of trust and respect. He was not only our teacher but also our mentor, guide, and friend. Even today, his influence continues to echo in the choices we make and the lives we build.

On what would have been his birthday, we feel his absence. Girish Sir’s spirit and his impact on us stay strong. Today, we honor his life and influence.
Girish Sir was more than Shari Academy’s founder; he was its heart. His work and vision turned a dream into a place where photographers grow.
His teachings and encouragement remain with us. His words remind us to do our best, be ourselves, and be kind.
Though he isn’t here for his birthday, his memory lives on. We promise to keep his dreams alive.
As we remember him, we pray for his peace. His legacy will always inspire us.

He was like a father figure, always guiding us, humorously but strictly, towards eternal victory.

I met Girish before around 1987/88 and looked up to him like a rockstar in photography.
On coming back in 1992 he welcomed me in AIPA as a Photogtapher and was always very helpful and supportive.
He was and will remain as an inspiration and a friend with whom I could always share a laugh and look up to.
I pay my respects to the man who was a pioneer and founder of the term ‘ Photography ke Guru’ in every way
